Hayabusa capsule lands in Australia


The asteroid-sample return capsule was ejected from the Hayabusa spacecraft three hours before reaching Earth. The sample canister flew through Earth's atmosphere, while the spacecraft broke up in spectacular fashion over the Australian Outback. The capsule lay in the Woomera Prohibited Area until morning while Aboriginal elders determined that it had not landed in any indigenous sacred sites.
