Hubble mirror

If the Hubble Space Telescope’s mirror were scaled to be large enough for Webb, it would be too heavy to launch into orbit. The Webb mirrors are made from beryllium, which make them strong but very light. The mirror segments fold up so they can fit into a rocket, and then will unfold after launch. Image Credit: NASA
