Mission Briefing

  • The Muses-C/Muses-CN mission will return a sample from asteroid Nereus to Earth using the smallest rover ever flown.
  • The Stardust mission will return a comet sample to Earth in 2006.
  • The Rosetta mission will land on a comet in 2011.
  • Around 2010, the Terrestrial Planet Finder will search out planetary systems around the brightest 1000 stars within 13 parsecs of our solar system.
  • The Cassini mission to Saturn will drop a probe into Titan's atmosphere in 2004 to take measurements. Titan is the only moon in the solar system with a thick atmosphere (composed largely of nitrogen) and a sophisticated organic chemistry.
