A new Earth-sized neighbor

POSTED BY: S. DOMAGAL-GOLDMAN

This planet is not habitable – it is way too hot for life as we know it – but still pretty darn cool. But it is in the Alpha Centauri system, putting it only a few light years away and making it the closest known planet outside our solar system. That it is Earth sized is even better, proving that the nearest stars can have rocky, Earth-sized planets….. And just as importantly that we can find them. For those wanting....

Redefining Insanity

POSTED BY: S. DOMAGAL-GOLDMAN

I’ve often heard people define insanity as “doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.” So how do we treat this video? Because I’m fairly certain of two things: 1.) This was insane. 2.) It had never been done before. So much for the common wisdom on insanity… Just another thing for Felix Baumgartner to shatter… along with all those world records.
