Young folks, (young in spirit: also accepted) don’t miss out the upcoming GRS on the Origin of Life! This one is extra special, because Jack Szostak (you read it right, 2009 Nobel Laureate on Medicine Jack Szostak) will be the keynote speaker! If you ever been to a Gordon Conference, you’ll know what I am talking about… Gordon Conferences are the best! The attendee number for GRC is limited therefore you don’t get lost, subjects are very narrowed and focused so you actually get to hang out with other scientists with similar interests and it is a great opportunity to network. GRS is extra special, because it is everything that a GRC has to offer, for only graduate students and postdocs (aka the people who you will get to spend an academic career with…) Need I say more? You better know your peers early on, my friends
Here is what the upcoming seminar focuses on:
“Identifying the mechanisms governing the origin of life requires the convergence of two different perspectives: top-down, extrapolating backward in time from modern biology; and bottom-up, working from the geological and chemical conditions of prebiotic Earth (or possibly extraterrestrial environments). This conference is intended to bring early-career researchers from both perspectives together to tackle current issues in our understanding of life’s origins.”

And have a great weekend everyone! May all your experiments work (especially the one you gave up your Saturday evening for… sigh)
