• See where God might be found - the way you want to.

The Large Hadron Collider is the Apollo program of the 21st Century. The project involves thousands of scientists and engineers from 111 nations and it is perhaps the most complex scientific project undertaken. The world\'s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator operated by CERN has a simple task - to find God. Well, the God Particle (a.k.a The Higgs Boson) anyway.

Tantalising results in the last year suggest that the particle which might explain how things get mass, has been cornered and it is only a matter of a few months before it is caught in action. In this post, I don\'t want to talk about what is the Higgs Boson, show you a cartoon, or rap bout the LHC. I want to share one of the coolest views of the LHC.

To checkout it out you will need an iPad - apologies to those who have not yet succumbed to Steve Jobs ;-) Download the Popular Science/Condition One App for a virtual tour of the ATLAS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. It is a short video but one where you become an active participant and control where the camera looks!

It is amazing what is possible with this rather simple technology. It really felt like I was there! It is hard to put the feeling of the virtual control into words but everyone I showed to was generally left in awe... so it is worth checking out.

The company behind the technology has a number of other immersive experiences to demo and with collaborators like the Discovery Channel we can expect some great science material to come out soon. It is early days for the technology but I reckon it is only a matter of time before James Cameron gets his hand on the technology. Imagine watching Avatar 2 on the retina display iPad with immersive experience. Better yet, put it into Google Glasses and I might have little reason to get out of bed!

Now if you don\'t have an iPad, here is what it would feel like inside the LHC:
