Geobiologist Nora Noffke has been making headlines recently with a new study on potential biosignatures left by ancient life on Mars. By carefully studying images from Curiosity, she and her team noticed similarities between “ancient sedimentary rocks on Mars and structures shaped by microbes on Earth”. It’s not proof of life, but the results definitely hint toward the possibility that Mars was once an inhabited planet.
