Scientific American ran an interesting article back in April about the gap in advanced science degrees between women and men. In 2008, women earned more biology PhDs than men for the first time… but in many of the the other STEM disciplines (check out Physics and Engineering) the gap was much bigger. What discourages young women from pursuing advanced degrees in some fields? Is it lack of role models? Gender bias? What do you think?
